This study examined the long-term effects of Botox® (botulinum toxin type A) on facial aging by comparing identical twin sisters—one who received regular Botox® treatments over 13 years, and one who had minimal treatment.
The twin who received consistent Botox® injections in the forehead and glabellar (frown line) areas two to three times per year showed no visible imprinted lines at rest, while her twin, who was rarely treated, developed noticeable wrinkles in these areas. Additionally, the regularly treated twin had smoother crow’s feet, even months after her last treatment. Areas that were not treated, such as the nasolabial folds, aged similarly in both twins.
Conclusion:
Consistent, long-term use of Botox® can prevent the formation of static (resting) facial lines and reduce dynamic wrinkles such as crow’s feet. The treatment was shown to be safe and well tolerated, with no adverse effects reported after 13 years of regular use.
